Compound annual growth

CAGR, total return, and growth multiple.

Equations

  • CAGR = (Final ÷ Initial)1/Years − 1
  • TotalReturn = Final ÷ Initial − 1
  • GrowthMultiple = Final ÷ Initial

How this is calculated
  • CAGR (compound annual growth rate) — the smoothed annual rate that compounds Initial to Final over Years
  • Total return — period gain as a fraction of Initial (not annualised)
  • Growth multiple — Final ÷ Initial (e.g. 1.61×)

Illustrative — not financial advice. Distinct from ROI (simple period return) and from LTV:CAC payback (customer months).
